Non-Running Friends

I have several friends that do not run and happily display their 0.0 with pride.  That’s fine and all, I have nothing against the non-runners in my life, but I’ve found that non-runners are vehement about their opposition to running, so much so that just hearing about my running adventures makes them question my sanity, “You ran HOW MANY MILES and paid HOW MUCH for a race???  You raced last weekend and now you’re racing again and you have another race in TWO WEEKS??? That’s just crazy, Laura!  I don’t get it!!!”

Race Recap: Nike Women’s (Half) Marathon

If you know me or if you’ve been following my blog, you know that I joined Team in Training last year to run my first marathon, the Nike Women’s Marathon, while raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  I raised the money, I ran the race, I fell in love with TNT and have been a part of our East Bay run team ever since.

I am now in my 4th season with TNT and as Fundraising Captain had the opportunity to run the exclusive Nike Women’s Marathon again, so I took the chance to register, and happily checked off the HALF marathon box for this year.

… because the full nearly almost killed me dead.

Mental Problems

I am the first to admit I have mental problems.  Nothing that’s professionally medicated or commit-able or harm-to-self-and-others type of mental problems, just your typical, run of the mill, what’s-the-meaning-of-life-and-why-are-we-here sort of stuff…and I haven’t felt this way since the Great Post-Marathon Depression of 2011.

And that, dear readers, is why I have not written a blog post in such a long time- my mind is consumed with where I am now in my life, where I am going, and trying to figure out what is actually important.  Being so in my head right now and somewhat confused about life has made it very hard to get my thoughts OUT there, so please forgive my absence as well as the following attempt to explain myself.
